N2 v Chalfont St Peter
Ground: Tudor
Date: 13/6/10

N2CC beat St Chalfont by six wickets
Chalfont 67 all out. N2CC 69 for 4

Josh won the toss and chose to field first, which was the general consensus between the N2 team. Bhatt and Butler opened the bowling with aplomb but after 5 overs the opposition had moved to 16. That was to change with Butler’s first ball of his 3rd over, their batsman who had earlier hit a six off Butler went for one more and skied it, it stayed in the air for an eternity before safely being caught by D. Dyer. The next was not far away as Bhatt bowled their number 3. Butler then took another with some good work from Newham with the stumping leaving the oppo 24-3.
Then a wait for the next as the oppo looked to rebuild. Newbery came on to replace Bhatt and within 3 overs had got a wicket. Their number 4 was bowled with a beauty, 48-4.
Jacobi had come onto to replace the impressive Butler and his 2nd over produced 2 wickets. First their number 1 hit a ball straight to Willimott who gratefully received his gift, then the next ball he bowled their number 7, 58-6. Unfortunately no hat trick but a 2 wicket maiden was impressive.
Then more wickets tumbled as Newbery got his 2nd via another good catch from D. Dyer, then another for Jacobi (which was not noted in the scorebook!), 63-8. Benting came on for a bit of spin and at the other end Willimott got his chance and was rewarded with a wicket via a superb catch by Thompson. Benting wrapped up the innings with a catch from Bhatt, 67 all out, a good effort from the N2 boys.

Parker and Thompson strode out confidently with a meagre total to chase down. Parker looked his solid best and Thompson looked good with his first ball being dispatched to the boundary, had we found Thompson’s new position? Sadly not, as within an over he was walking back with his head down after being bowled. D. Dyer was next in but did not trouble the score and was also bowled 19-2. S. Dyer was next in only making 4 before being caught, 32-3. Newham came in and looked in good touch with a couple of fours. Parker had also looked good and it looked as though these two would see the side home. Alas, as Parker edged one behind and another N2 wicket had fallen, 53-4. Willimott was next in and rarely got a look in as Newham had most of the strike and with another 4 saw N2 home. A comprehensive victory all round.

A beer match followed with another comfortable win for the mighty N2!
